Mowing the Lawn ...

.... trimming the bush ... waxing the cat ... shaving the kitty ... whatever you call it, I am surprised I haven't seen much more than a passing mention on this topic here in Blogland  ... I'm pretty sure I'm not the only TiH whose HoH has made demands regarding the state of her lawn ... (I'm going with the lawn mowing euphemism just 'cause I can make it work :>)).

Pre ttwd, it was a 'request', one I tried to step up to whenever it seemed to matter ... usually not more than once every week or so and definitely not before any anticipated medical appointments, etc. I begged off doing it more often due to the nasty rash regular mowing seemed to bring on.

Post ttwd, the request became a demand ... the lawn should be kept to golf course standards ... not just regular golf course greens height but putting green smooth. This was so much of a concern to me I considered going to a professional lawn grooming company ... the one that uses the same methods I do weeding the garden ... pulling it out. However, that was nixed due to two concerns ... the first, not wanting to add yet another expense to the already expensive yard maintenance plan and the other relating to the fact we live in 'Small Town Everyone Knows Your Business' and the thought of being in the grocery line up behind the person who mowed my lawn yesterday, kinda put me off.

Then good ol' Pinterest sent Nora Jean a 'suggested pin' ... it's hilarious some days, the things I get in a Pinterest feed ... and this was how the original pin was titled  ....

Shaving it like a Stripper

I am now a convert ... an every second day 'shaving it like a stripper' convert ...

If this is something you face as a 'request', a 'demand', a 'rule' or just a once in awhile for the fun of it type of thing, I highly recommend this approach ... click on the link below the photo for all the lawn mowing details :>)) ...

Thanks for dropping by! :>)) .... nj

  1. HAHAHAHA You're a nut! Yeah, rash city here with the razor, so what I do is what we refer to as "the buzz cut" with the electric razor -- the same one Storm uses to trim his face. ROFL !! So, I will be checking out the link for sure to see if there is a way to not get the rash. Oh gosh, that would be horrible to stand next to the person in line who just shaved your ..... yesterday. LOL!! Funny post! And helpful with the link! Thanks, NJ! Oh, it is not a demand here.... but the smoother it is, the smoother he likes it..... so it is something I would like to do if I can do so comfortably. Thanks, NJ!

    1. Yes, Windy ... I guess I am a bit of a nut :)) ... If you do try it, buy isopropyl spray and use liberally. And yes, I use the Dove deodorant. And hey, if it doesn't work for you, no biggie ... you've already got something that does. ... nj ... xx

    1. Happy to have given you a laugh, Fondles ;)) ... I had to look up IPL ... we probably don't even have such service here. It sure sounds better than waxing ... ouch! ... nj

  3. It's somewhat different here. This had never one occurred to me in my whole life until after TTWD. I think I read something along the way and it sounded interesting and I had just the man for the job! Nick did the clipping and then shaving - it was very erotic! We don't do it all the time but when it happens I not only have my own pool boy, I have my own lawn boy too!

    1. Hi PK ... I am sure it was very erotic hanging with your lawn boy. I suggested that approach here but unfortunately Frank says, "nope ... that's your job" ;(... nj

  4. Years ago I belonged to a sub group. We talked about this. Actually my girl friend wrote a hilarious post about seeing 'it' again for the first time. Anyway she found using conditioner worked best for the skin, burn ect.

I usually use 'flooring' as my uphanism concerning this subject .so hard wood it has been for years. No area carpet. I shave every day. Not because I am hairy, just picky (or don't want to be in this case - also an argument for not waxing, the grow out required.) Anyway the every day thing with conditioner helps with the rash and the grow back itch, at least in my experience.

There was a funny meme I read years ago, ' if our men knew the positions we put ourselves in to shave, they'd demand kinker sex'
Lol though guess in many of our cases that isn't necessary.

  5. NJ,
I love the lawn service analogy. So funny! I spend a fortune on the Gillete Comfort Venus razor........ shaving daily ....... ugh! When I checked the link, several great suggestions were made. Legs get the treatment too. I have friends who let it all go in the winter, but these friends are not in ttwd marriages. Very funny and good post, NJ.

    1. Thanks, Meredith ... yes, razor blade prices are ridiculous, aren't they. And I'm pretty sure time of year is not going to make a bit of difference here :) nj ... xx

  6. It is a requirement here also..so thanks for the link. I use one of the razors with the built in 'conditioner' on either side, and find keeping up with it a few times a week works for me....M once threatened when I had lapse to take them out individually with tweezers...it has been part of my routine since then. hugs abby

  7. This topic came up only once since ttwd took up residence at our house. I asked what Sam would like, and he was absolutely against shaving. I keep it trimmed and neat, sort of like the shrubs in our garden. Guess I am in the minority. Wouldn't be the first time.

  9. NJ - Eric likes variety on this lawn so every four weeks or so I find myself on the table of our local landscaper. Blue wax is the key - smoother and much less painful. Fun post!

    1. I actually looked into whether or not waxing could be a DIY option and found there are a lot of wax types etc ... after which I decided that approach just might be risky business ;)) ... nj

  11. I laughed when I saw your post’s title and knew what the subject matter would be. I first mowed my lawn in its entirety about ten years ago. I was strimming the edges prior to a beach vacation and took off the lot on a whim. I wasn’t sure what Harry would think but what’s not to like? I do get a rash if I mow too frequently, so thanks for sharing the article and its tips.
